3.Goals-How Committed are You?
How are you feeling? More in control? You probably are. Each of you is at a different level in the development of your Goal Setting and attaining skills.
Always remember though, you are exactly where you are meant to be at this point in time in whatever you are doing or attempting. Trust this. I’m sure you’re aware of that, so go easy on yourself, just stay SAFCCR.
Okay, let’s get straight into it.
(e) Consistency
Being consistent is most people’s Achilles Heel. While the fervor at the beginning is at its height, it’s quite easy to say excitedly, “Yes, I have set this Goal and I will achieve it.” And for a certain period, it’s full steam ahead. You feel unstoppable. So powerful.
Then, things start to get a bit difficult, progress slows down. You say to yourself, “Oh! It’s okay, it won’t hurt if I take today off. I’ll keep going again tomorrow.”
Tomorrow becomes another tomorrow, and then another tomorrow, and so it goes on until the momentum has either slowed down, or it has stopped completely. Sound familiar?
Phrases such as; “Oh, I don’t care”, “I knew it wouldn’t work for me”, “There’s more to life than………….” Sound familiar?
The cause - a loss of focus and commitment, and fear setting in as you are getting out of your comfort zone. You’ve started your climb to that other level.
Or, you have plateaued, and feel you don’t know how to move on, what the next step should be. “Been there, done that.” “Oh, stuff it”. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? Sound familiar?
The cause - a loss of focus and commitment, and fear setting in as you are getting out of your comfort zone. You’ve started your climb to that other level. I know I’ve repeated it.
Consistency means doing it X number of times, X number of days, X number of months, X number of years. It means doing it for as long as it takes, no exception.
It’s being committed, no matter what.
Is it starting to become clear? You have to guts it out till you achieved your Goal, at least at the beginning.
Each time you do this, the next Goal becomes easier, and the next even easier, until you aren’t even aware you are setting Goals, you just know you are being successful.
There are NLP techniques which I’ll share with you in later articles that will make this easier, but for now train yourself by implementing the above.
(f) Reward
Reward yourself each step of the way, small rewards at first which can become larger rewards as you get closer to completion. Incremental rewards as you progress are vital. They show that a step has achieved termination, and the next step is beginning. Rewards validate the signposts of your roadmap.
Finally, after you have been committed and consistently given your attention to your Goal, and with focus you have achieved it, it is time to give yourself the ultimate reward in gratitude to yourself for your dedication to yourself.
Celebrate the greatness of you. Be proud of yourself. Acknowledge what an amazing, and yet not surprising, victory you have just won.
I say, not surprising, because we all have so much greatness inside of us. We just need to really believe in our magnificence, and that there is nothing we cannot accomplish if we really want, if we’re interested in it.
So, how is that for an introduction into Goal setting and Goal achieving? This is just the beginning.
When you embarked on this Goal setting journey, you knew that you were ready to make major changes in your life, didn’t you?
And you also knew that major changes take some effort, and you were ready. By actioning SAFCCR, you are deepening your relationship with your non-conscious mind, that greater part of you.
Just to refresh:

As the old saying goes, “As you sow, so shall you reap.”
Can you trust yourself to succeed? Do you think you can make the changes you want?
There we have it for today.
Well done. Don’t forget to reward yourself for having come thus far. You’ve come a long way from when you started this pathway.
