7.Goals–You are a Master Goal Setter Now!

Hello again,

You’ve made it. This is the last post on Goals in this series.

The last 2 questions to answer are:

How do you set effective Goals?

Once set, how do you give them momentum?

I’m sure this is the part you’ve been waiting for. So let’s get right into it.

There is a simple formula that you can use and it comes in the mnemonic:
C-R-E-A-T-E

C – all aspects of your Goal must be Clear and Concise, that means no waffle, fluff or padding

R – your Goal must be Realistic and Relevant to YOU

E – you must know what the End Step or Evidence Procedure is going to be, ie How will you know you have achieved the Goal?

AAs now, ie is you must state your Goal in the present

TTimed in the Future, ie the date is in the future. Use Toward language, ie say it the way you want it, not the way you don’t want it

E – your Goal must be what we call Ecological, ie Is the Goal good and safe for you, good and safe for others, and good and safe for the planet, as appropriate.

I’ll give you an example. I could have a Goal as follows:

It is now (A) July 2009 (C, T), and I am looking at my Clickbank account (E), which shows an extra $1,000,000 profit (C, R, E).

The goal needs to be that simple – no ‘therefores’, ‘howevers’, etc – no fluff.

Process

Visualize that goal in the future. Some people visualize with their eyes shut, others can leave them open. There are no rules. What works for you is right for you.

Do the following steps. Don’t rush them. Set aside maybe 15-20 minutes; the time gets shorter as you get used to the process.

Play some soft music, perhaps burn some oil. Make sure you will be undisturbed.

Breath in through the nose (to the count of about 3), hold (to about the count of 3), and out through the mouth (to about the count of 4), repeat about 7-10 times. Don’t get fanatical about counting, just keep breathing until you feel really internally focused, not asleep, gently focused.

Use all five senses when you do any self-hypnosis or other-person hypnosis induction.

1. In your mind’s eye, look to the direction you think is your future. As you look in that direction, visualize looking at yourself having achieved that Goal. What do you see? What colour is that picture? Are there any sounds in that picture? What feelings do you get looking at that picture? Really enjoy all those experiences. Linger on that picture

2. As you linger on that picture you become aware of a calendar near you that has the exact date in the future that you chose to achieve the Goal

3. Still looking in the direction of your future, now slightly change your focus, and actually BE IN that picture, not just see yourself in it but BE the picture and then gently place yourself on the date in the calendar that you said you’d achieve that Goal. Just stay there and enjoy the feeling of having achieved that Goal and see yourself looking at the evidence (in my example, looking at my Clickbank account). Feel all the sensations of having achieved that Goal

4. As you do that, ask your nonconscious mind to inspire you with what you need to achieve that Goal and wait a while, just a couple of minutes, and ask it to store those learnings for you in your mind and to inspire you with them as you need them

5. Just sit and enjoy the process a bit longer and then open your eyes or just ‘come back to now’ as we say.

That’s it! What happens inside your minds is very subtle. You will get ideas on how to implement your Goal and you won’t know where they came from. Just trust yourself and go with it.

You don’t have to worry about setting that Goal any more, just go about being proactive in implementing it.

You can have as many Goals in the future as you like. They can be small or huge. Some people set a Goal that a particular meeting will go well. Always follow the simple formula and the above 5 steps.

The important thing is to get into the practice of setting goals, doing the process, and keeping to Goals.

Well, there we have it.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I know you are benefiting and will continue gaining insights the more you re-read the material and implement it.

Like all learnings which occur at the nonconscious level, ie becomes automatic, it must be internalized.

Most people read information once maybe some bits twice. They implement part of it again once, and then they wonder why it doesn’t work for them.

They are training their subconscious mind to accept this pattern of behaviour as the norm.

Remember to always enjoy what you do and relax while doing it, no strain or negative pressure.

CONGRATULATIONS once again! WELL DONE!

  1. Hi Gloria

What would you say to someone who feels like giving up on goal setting?

I used to set big goals but never reached them which left me deeply disappointed and discouraged.

Then I decided small goals were better but they just didn’t excite me & I’d be bored or I’d forget what they were.

Now I’m reluctant to set goals because it seems like I deliberately sabotage myself. It’s crazy because I know all I’m doing is hurting myself.

Any suggestions you have would be gratefully appeciated.

    warmly
    Kerri

  2. Hello Kerri,

Forgive me that I haven’t answered yet, unforseen events.

I will answer in the next couple of days.

    Cheers,

    Gloria

  3. Hello Kerri,

I’ve spent quite some time deciding how I would respond to your comment, as this is a very public platform.

Your content in paragraphs 1 & 4 already caused me some concern.

There is nothing, but nothing, but nothing one gives up on in life. Nothing.

We may change direction, but to even use the words “give up” sends the most terrible cues to your nonconscious mind. (Read the posting on ‘What makes us so unique – AUDITORY’).

I have some questions for you:

    1. What was your attitude, your frame of mind when you saw the heading/s on Goals? Honestly.

    2. What existing paradigms on Goals did you carry with you as you read the postings? Really think about this one.

    3. Have you read the postings on Goals?

    4. Have you done the exercises?

    5. Have you re-read the material? We often pick things up from another reading that we missed the first time.

    6. Did you attempt some of the exercises again? Familiarity with doing an exercise often improves your performance.

    7. Did you do the exercise from last reply to your comment re: your self-image?

    8. What secondary gain are you getting from holding on to these paradigms? Really think about this one too.

    9. What are you afraid of?

    10. Success? (What does that mean to you?)

    11. Failure? (What does that mean to you?)

You say: “I’d forget what they were”. Did you have them written down?

Each step from the end result to the current step you are about to take MUST be written down.

Please, do re-read the material and follow each step.

BUT, this time, BEFORE you do say the following to yourself:

“My darling nonconscious and conscious minds, we have a clean slate to read the material on Goals again.

You know why, because YOU and I CAN DO IT. We know we can, because we can do anything we really want to, can’t we? YES”.

    Or something like that.

And really mean what you say, believe that it’s true.

Go about it all as though it were already a fact, because it already is a fact, you just haven’t yet acknowledged it or are aware of it.

Saying the above does 2 things:

    1. Makes you laugh – which is always good, relaxes you.
    2. Sets a new playing field

All this should give you something to think about.

Please let me know how you go, and if there is anything I can do.

    All the best,

    Gloria H
